If it were real life – stretch I know – but if it were real, I agree with Lowery. I personally think that she would have scribbled a line from a lyric that M had written. Or something to the affect…. My husband fell asleep early on while watching it and he now doesn’t care what the deeper meaning of it was. I don’t need to know that I understand it – I just enjoyed grappling with the feelings and questions that it evoked. That’s all I’ve got. Ghost-C is left alone. The exact moment that this happens is after the middle of the movie, around 68 minutes.
The other ghost that he is referring to is the one that lived in the other house.
But I digress. / All the awful dreams / Felt real enough / Is your lover there? M did not feel anything for the "story" of the house either. Again, we’ll get back to this scene later on. We are shown that the children are able to sense the presence of Ghost-C. Hit upon by a lack of purpose, Ghost-C eventually loses his shit and behaves like a ghost we’re all used to seeing. I think the door opens for him again because he’s in the loop of time….the 2 kids are going to be running to the room again like they did before. GAH! Where is this movie going? He talks on these things which under normal circumstances no one would feel the need to proclaim in such a manner. Mother? At the beginning of the movie the spectator is inserted into the middle of this circle, events have already been going on, in Triangle you see that many loops had already passed ( dead birds on the beach ), in the ghost story we can perceive that we are already in the loop, C complains about noises in the house , if you turn up the volume you will hear the scribbling and scratching on a wooden wall ( the ghost trying to dig up the note), someone making noises on a piano, strange bright lights etc, so there was a ghost already roaming the house, so C was already dead !, we are in the Nth loop. I never saw that happen. What kind of pie is it going to be? And Lost in Translation, and maybe Blade Runner amd 2049 and and… never mind! So you see, Ghost-C was already in the house when C and M first moved in. But alas here we are. Things are flowing - good ideas, bad ideas, fun ideas, no ideas. Fascinating! Doppleganger . 3. The note is a metaphor for the meaning of life. Ghost-C witnesses C and M live their lives in that house again. This is probably the window to the afterlife. On Reddit, there’s a subreddit for this. Nothing any of the crew could have written would have been acceptable. And there is M, after having lived through other occupancies of the house, with the note almost out, only to have it wrecked by a backhoe. you should read Virginia Woolf, the film starts with a quote from her and this film really feels like the cinematic equivalent of the Time Passes chapter from To the Lighthouse. He can't even find anything of worth or meaning like he did when the family moved in, or the young people were having a party (less than when he was alive in it of course but still enough to keep him there). There’s your crooked nose. And no, this is not a spoiler. He’s just an observer. How can you say the rest of the film is meandering? M notices that the book lying open on the floor is “A Haunted House”. I also think that the contents of the note are irrelevant. I’m sorry. Eventually C brings someone home and M knocks books on the floor to show his outrage. To us, we could describe it as infinite layers all merged together. Entre-trailer: And really all I want to know about this movie? She is shown to cherish the song C once composed. It's the most pretentious kind of scene to have in a film. Enjoyed everyone’s comments. I kinda feel like her note simply said . C-the ghost… looks like I got the name wrong. I’m kind of glad that I didn’t. I found the film a little depressing, I think you are supposed to. The note is a metaphor for the meaning of life. But then M finally gets the note out. Furthermore, the ending may leave many perplexed as the scope of the narrative expands and becomes something bigger than you’d expect. But I could tell by the editorial treatment of that moment - all of these characters sitting in silence absorbing this guy's self congratulatory musings that this was in fact the thesis of the film. Nothing is said. Ghost-C continues roaming the area, lost. Disappointing!
